I believe 'Getting to Maybe' is a favorite. Haven't had a chance to start it yet.thevuch wrote:ive seen a list of books around this forum that should be read before beginning the first year, that are about the law school experience. can someone help me out here and tell me what these books are?
'One L' by Scott Turow is an entertaining read, though not particularly helpful.

I've talked to a few others already in law school. They suggested sharpening your writing skills with Strunk's The Elements of Style and other writing books as well GTM or 1L of a Ride.thevuch wrote:ive seen a list of books around this forum that should be read before beginning the first year, that are about the law school experience. can someone help me out here and tell me what these books are?

I read a slew of those books but none of them told me anything i didn't know from TLS or from reading the blogs.
There are a few books about writing law exams (Delaney), i read them before law school but it didn't really help. Because how you write your changes depending on your professor.
If you insist on reading some books, then GTM and Planet Law School II are what i'd recommend. And maybe the How To Write Law Exams by Delaney.
But IMO you're better off just PMing 2Ls and 3Ls at your school and speaking with them about your professors and stuff.
