Columbia LOCI
Hi guys, so I applied ED to Columbia and was asked to submit my fall grades before they made a decision. My gpa didn't change much, so I was thinking about submitting a LOCI with my transcript. Thoughts? Are LOCIs strictly for when you are waitlisted only?

I am an 0L and thus I am completely conjecturing here, but if you are still an ED applicant and haven't been deferred to RD or a wait list then I would think your "Continued Interest" is obvious because if they accept you you have to attend.
Hopefully someone with actual experience and knowledge can give their take on it, but to me it just seems that ED is the ultimate expression of an applicant's interest in a school.

Thanks for your help! I was thinking along the same lines about it being redundant with ED - I just really want to get in and felt the reason they asked me for my fall grades was to see if my gpa went up, which it didn't, so I wanted to see if there was something else I could do to boost my application.drevo wrote:I am an 0L and thus I am completely conjecturing here, but if you are still an ED applicant and haven't been deferred to RD or a wait list then I would think your "Continued Interest" is obvious because if they accept you you have to attend.

Save the LOCI for if you get deferred, or held. It's sort of an option of last resort.

Re: Columbia LOCI
As someone who was held then waitlisted until the end last year at Columbia, I think LOCI periodically are definitely important in letting schools know you're still interested. But I'm not so sure how much value they would hold as of right now.
I'm deferred to RD from ED at NYU, and decided against the LOCI this time around...
