0L Looking for Laptop Advice!!
Will I look like a goof if I have a Lenovo when all the "cool kids" will have macs? Any 2L or 3L's out there that can speak to either choice? I know that OneNote is a benefit of going with a PC...but other than that it seems like a toss-up. Thanks for the input!

Nobody gives a shit what brand your laptop is. Get what you want.FlowBro wrote:Will I look like a goof if I have a Lenovo when all the "cool kids" will have macs? Get whatever you want. Yes, probably everyone else will have a mac, but that's no reason to buy one. I got one as a 2L just to see what all the fuss is about and I still don't get it. The aluminum looks sleek and pretty, but that's about it.

Not "everyone" has a mac. There are a lot, but PCs aren't rare like unicorns or anything.

In my 1L section of 90 people, there were only 3 people who did not have a mac (this includes one girl who used a netbook).rinkrat19 wrote:Not "everyone" has a mac. There are a lot, but PCs aren't rare like unicorns or anything.

There's a new Thinkpad with a touch screen that's coming out that looks nice. If you don't like/use Mac OS, then I figure your first semester of law school is the wrong time to try to transition in the name of looking cool.FlowBro wrote:Will I look like a goof if I have a Lenovo when all the "cool kids" will have macs? Going off this, law school isn't the time to "look cool." Work on getting high grades, little else matters.jselson wrote:There's a new Thinkpad with a touch screen that's coming out that looks nice. I had an ASUS my first year. It's no big deal. I just noticed the difference because I was one of the few who didn't have a mac. And now I have one and I still don't get what the point is. It's alright, but nothing special.WahooLaw24 wrote:I feel so dorky with my Dell nowcinephile wrote:In my 1L section of 90 people, there were only 3 people who did not have a mac (this includes one girl who used a netbook).rinkrat19 wrote:Not "everyone" has a mac. If you truly want to stand out in your class, just hand-write all your notes.

Just get a mac. It won't make you cool, but everything else is TTT.FlowBro wrote:Will I look like a goof if I have a Lenovo when all the "cool kids" will have macs? But on a serious note, I own a PC and have no intention of getting a Mac just for lawl school. I don't think anybody should go out of their way just to "fit in," although I would be interested to know how many firms use Macs vs. PCs.

At NU I would say maybe 15-20% have PCs....? More than just a token amount.PRgradBYU wrote:dr123 wrote:Get an ibm desktop![]()

Re: 0L Looking for Laptop Advice!!
I'd say it's a toss-up. FWIW, I used an old MacBook Pro for UG, and I was debating between a new MacBook Air ($1100) or refurb T430 ($600) for LS. Ended up choosing the ThinkPad to save some cash, and so far I've been very impressed. It's built like a tank, the keyboard rocks, easy to fix/upgrade, good battery life, etc.
