Regarding IP

Post by Crowing » Tue Feb 12, 2013 11:39 pm

I've seen a lot of talk on TLS about needing a PhD/Masters for IP, but I've also heard from current law students and current IP lawyers that higher degrees are not necessary and that even the specific major is not really important as long as you're IP bar eligible.

I have a STEM B.S. and am not super interested in IP but would like to keep it open as a backup option if possible. So basically how much do advanced degrees/major/employment prospects of school factor into IP? I'd like to hear from people pursuing or working in IP but anything is cool; I mean I like to shit everywhere as a 0L too so I'm not gonna complain about anybody's input.

People over blow it, but there isn't a huge patent prosecution demand for BS in Chem or Bio. EE or CS, you are golden with a BS. For litigation it seems to matter a whole lot less.
