What to Bring to Law School?
I thought this might be a fun question to ask some of the current law students who post on here. What should 0Ls on their way to 1L bring with them to law school? Besides the obvious, pens, paper, notebooks, etc, what is helpful to have that people might not think of? What kind of supplies come in the most handy?

A suit. It's needed on a handful of occasions throughout 1L.John Mill wrote:I thought this might be a fun question to ask some of the current law students who post on here. As little as possible. You will want to be mobile. From what I've seen at my law school, it's not uncommon to move every summer for externships/associateships and pretty common to upgrade your living conditions between 1L and 2L (mostly because by the time you are accepted in late spring, all the good apartments are gone). Then you may move again after graduation.
There was nothing that I felt was missing, but so many things I felt I could have left behind.

Probably obvious, but bring a computer. Most people take notes on a laptop in class and you'll likely need one to take your exams.

You know what, I'm actually curious about this. I'm going to be bringing my wife, and as much as I love her she can be kind of a pain lol. I figured it would be easier having somebody to help out with money and food and stuff, to leave more time for studying. Did having your spouse there pose a lot of problems?BlueJeanBaby wrote:Brought my husband the first time. Not making that mistake again.

There was a helpful old thread on here with a lot of good suggestions.
My suggestion: An extra computer monitor. Dual monitors can be really helpful for LRW and outlining.

Re: What to Bring to Law School?
I was there for like, a day total, but my husband pitched the biggest fit of his life when I tried to go to law school the first time. He hated it (and possibly who he saw me becoming) so much that he completely stopped talking to me and took my wedding ring back. He gave it back to me the day I withdrew. We were newly weds at the time (although we started dating when we were 17) and have done a lot of work on our marriage since then, but this time I'm going alone. We are going to give the long-distance thing a shot but aren't blind to the struggles it could cause. I know a lot of couples who made it through just fine, though! I'm hoping we make it work this time.John Mill wrote:You know what, I'm actually curious about this. I'm going to be bringing my wife, and as much as I love her she can be kind of a pain lol. All you need is a laptop and a handle of Wild Turkey.

Re: What to Bring to Law School?
My wife was born in the Czech Republic, and she had to go back there while her K1 visa was being processed (so we could get married) and the process wound up dragging on for so long that we wound up being apart for like 14 months, couldn't even visit. So yea the long distance thing is tough, but it can be done. At least you guys can visit on holidays and weekends and suchBlueJeanBaby wrote: I know a lot of couples who made it through just fine, though! I'm hoping we make it work this time.

1 Computer
2 week of clothes (depending on laundry preferences)
1 Suit (or equivalent if you're a lady)
Lots of notepads
A set of highlighters
5000 pens
Copious amounts of alcohol
More alcohol

I don't think you need to bring any alcohol because you can buy it near your school.

Good point - but that means tearing yourself away from the books for an unacceptably long time (anything more than a bathroom break or to accept food delivery is probably a bad idea)patentlybored wrote:Disclaimer; 0L

Who has hard copies of porn? Stream that shit online, or have it hidden in some folders on your laptop in case your internet goes out.dingbat wrote:I knew I was missing something. Porn is probably not a bad idea, for some
