UT over Cornell for v50 firms in Texas?

Post by msblaw89 » Mon Mar 26, 2012 5:52 pm

Hey everyone.... I'm sure this has been answered before, so sorry.

Is going to UT better for landing a v50 firm anchored in NYC...that is also in Houston/Dallas/Austin or is going to Cornell then applying for the Houston based firm better? Better meaning more likely to be hired at the biglaw market pay

If you're for sure set on working/living Texas, I would go to UT. I'm guessing you'd get more money from there too, and in-state if you're a resident.

And, Ithaca is Gorges, but Austin's probably more your style.

Even if a firm's headquarter is in NYC, the satellite offices usually do their own hiring. It's better to interview directly with the office you want than rely on a different office submitting your info over.
