Can I Defer?

Post by HelpMeIfYouCan » Sat Mar 17, 2012 2:34 pm

Hey Guys:

I was wondering if most law schools allow you to defer your acceptance for a year (can I defer my 2012 acceptance and enter the Fall 2013 class). Do most law schools allow this?

Also, if you are Waitlisted from a school and then accepted in like mid-June, will most schools still let you defer?

Thanks guys!

Why don't you call or email your school instead of posting on here?

In terms of your waitlist question, once again, some schools are more hardcore about your need to immediately matriculate once taken of the waitlist--but, once again, it depends on the school, so you need to be communicating with your schools of interest.

It's a personal discussion that you have to have with your school.

It will depend on your reasons, their receptiveness, and the situation you're in.

We can't help you with any of that other than to tell you that people do defer sometimes. Logically, it would seem that the stronger candidate will have more success in getting that deferral.

On that same note, weak candidates who only squeaked in this year because apps are down should thank their lucky stars and not push their luck (I'm hoping this will apply to me for the T6 I'm still waiting to hear from)
