FAFSA Deadline

Post by cactuarX3 » Thu Mar 01, 2012 5:17 pm

Sorry guys, wasn't sure where to post this question. I'm kind of in a bad position where I may have to file my FAFSA a little bit later than the deadline for some of the schools that I'm considering. Is this a huge problem? I've only heard that it delays a little bit their loan offer, but is there any other disadvantage to applying late? Thanks for any feedback!

i'm not sure about the consequences for filing a little late. i've read a few times on here that most FA deadlines are "soft".

if you want to give more details on why you can't file maybe we can be of more help. i mean, my parent hadn't finished her taxes for 2011 and i was able to use 2010 as an estimate.. maybe there's a solution so you can file on time?

Pretty much a combination of working 12 hours a day and general laziness/procrastination during the weekends. I'll probably get it done this weekend...

well, tbh need-access is like 10x more of a pain than FAFSA, so i'd worry about that one more.. also, i get the impression that FAFSA is more important in determining your eligibility for federal loans, and need-access for your eligiblity for institutional grants, if that at all helps you prioritize.. i was able to do FAFSA in like an hour or two, but maybe that's just because i only had to fill in lots of 0's

Good to know! I've already completed the Need Access and I'm glad to hear the FAFSA is easier. Thanks!

Yeah, FAFSA is super easy if your taxes are done. You should be able to knock it out pretty quickly.
