Need and Merit Based Scholarships Forum

Just wondering... are they generally additive, or do they cancel each other out?

From what I understand, there's not a ton of purely need-based aid outside of Harvard/Yale. Most schools give what they say are combined need/merit awards, but they aren't usually any more money than you'd expect just based on just merit.
