How are you spending your time until 1L.....
Holy fawk its almost August.
In less than 3 weeks I will be in law school. Weird, and a tad surreal that everything thus far has led to this. I.E. the many LSAT prep hours, $$$$ for applications and subsequent rejections lol
Im still struggling to finish "Getting to Maybe" and now the names seems even more fitting. "Maybe" I will finish it. Seems a little common sense filled and redundant 150 pages in
Next week I will be taking the Law Preview course at GWU, anyone else coming?(please dont judge, I got a scholly so......) I also have a few things to read and a case to brief before my first day of classes to keep me busy. So I ask my fellow future 1L's............
How are you spending the weeks before law school?

I've taken three law preview courses read the textbooks for class and all the supplements as well. I think you are under-prepared

We have required reading for orientation so I need to finish that and I'm going to browse through GTM. Other than that, it's just putting my apartment together, taking my dog to the park, and working out. I'll probably watch a good amount of Netflix Instant (kind of stocking up on TV)

Only Law School related prep I have done is skimming GTM (planning on reading it more throughly during fall semester) and I am going to start LEEWS on Monday. Besides that, work M-TR, golf, gym, drink. Rinse and repeat.

Indisputable flame. Even the most epic gunners don't get much further than GTM, LEEWS, and the E&Es. Which actually is not even that much if you have a 4+ month summer with nothing to do between UG and law school.chimp wrote:If this isn't a flame I feel sorry for you.t3hevildonut wrote:I've taken three law preview courses read the textbooks for class and all the supplements as well. Last day of work tomorrow, after that my days and nights will be spent drinking, going to the casino, and hopefully reading a book. I think everyone needs to have a little fun before the misery that is 1L.

I'm giving you all a push over to the FAQ subforum. Not law students yet. Soon, though.

As far as law school is concerned... Read GTM, Law School Confidential, and a Nutshell intro to study of law. Starting LEEWS in a day or so. Read the guides on TLS. Updated resume and did a generic cover letter. Going to make a list of employers for a 1L job search. Did some networking.
That stuff didn't take much time. Traveled/drank overseas for about 6 weeks. Gym everyday when home. Played a videogame. Spent time with family and friends.
I am getting ready to start already, there has been so much build up I am ready to get going. (Though I am sure that feeling with disappear rather quickly once I am in the thick of things).

I'm playing a lot of video games. In a couple weeks I move and then resume playing video games until classes start.
Come August 23rd I'm going to be all up in Forum for Law School Students and Legal Employment.dailygrind wrote:I'm giving you all a push over to the FAQ subforum. Not law students yet. Soon, though.

Studying for the patent bar -- sitting for the test the day before orientation. Networking interviews with 20 or so local IP attorneys. LEEEWS, Bramblebush and GTM. Plus fitting in a dive trip to the Keys and a week at a lake jet skiing and wake boarding with my extended family.

Putting off finishing LEEWS and GTM for another week. Making a master list of all the stuff I need for the apartment and the logistics the operation entails. Contacting family near DC to make pre-semester plans. Perusing TLS for study tips, cleaning up my laptop, working on my typing speed. And most of all psyching up. Persecution complex helps, also a chip on your shoulder and feeling like you have something to prove.

I've read A Civil Action, 1L and am now on The Man to See for fun. I'll probably skim GTM once I get moved after next week.
Mostly just the fun stuff though. Golf, hanging with my dog, working out, seeing friends in ABQ before I move and getting that sort of stuff tied up.

Working, reading GTM and LSC, and now considering reading this LLEWS since I see everyone else is. Is ithe worth reading? Other than that trying to enjoy my last couple weeks before the semester begins.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
