Tier 4 student's rank at T14 school?
Hi everyone,
I was just wondering where a student who does well at a Tier 4 school would rank at a T14 school. For example, if he or she was in the top 10% of the class, where would that student be amongst students in a T14 school? (Top third, above average, etc?)

Have you checked the 2011 supplement? The data now shows 34th percentile.dkt4 wrote:exactly at the 37th percentile, every time.

I just checked the specs on the rotary for the inline girder and I came up with 37.5

Ha more like 47.3 but if your uncles-gardeners-dog knows someone who went there it drops all the way down to 46.7

I think everyone is making fun of the OP for the wrong reason. The stupid question is just indicative of a more troubling pattern. The OP is obviously a 0L at a t4 school who thinks he will transfer to the t14 after a year. Worse yet, he thinks top 10% there will be lock at a t14.

Graduating top 10% at a tier 4 if coupled with any semblance of common courtesy and human decency will give you a significant advantage over the many T14 grads who cannot restrain their involuntary compulsion to yell "I'm smarter than you" to their clients.

But the important thing to remember is that, if you're lower than 10% at a T4, and you go up against a T14 graduate who actually does yell "I'm smarter than you" to the interviewer, you're a 3-1 longshot for the job at best.huckster wrote:Graduating top 10% at a tier 4 if coupled with any semblance of common courtesy and human decency will give you a significant advantage over the many T14 grads who cannot restrain their involuntary compulsion to yell "I'm smarter than you" to their clients.

Top 3%? Maybe. Top 5% Eh... I won't rule it out. Top 10%? We're talking T4 not T2.huckster wrote:Graduating top 10% at a tier 4 if coupled with any semblance of common courtesy and human decency will give you a significant advantage over the many T14 grads who cannot restrain their involuntary compulsion to yell "I'm smarter than you" to their clients.

It means nothing man sorry. I would just stop fighting my insecurities about being in a T4 and just do well, I've heard of T4 transferring to T2's before, but you need to work your ass off and have connections, T14 is impossible.

Blantantly wrong. You can get into T1 and the T14 from a T4. Won't be easy by any means, probably top 3% or better for the T14. Top 10% at a T4 could put you in T1. Don't completely shut people out of the T14, cause you don't want them there.Oblivion_08 wrote:It means nothing man sorry. This is a little like asking "how would one of the top 10 basketball players in the Ukraine fare in the NBA" -- results will vary about as widely as you can imagine.

Yeah, it's certainly not impossible. There are too many people though who think that they are the one who will be at the top of their class at a fourth-tier school and end up transferring into an awesome school.jmill wrote:Blantantly wrong. Re: Tier 4 student's rank at T14 school?
Well the only reason I say this is because I was told by people that it is going to be close to impossible for me to transfer from a T3 to T1(I would have to hit the top 10%, which is not impossible) but using that same logic I would assume that it would be even more difficult to do so from a T4. Guess I was wrong, just bust your butt off and pray to God, or if you don't believe in God pray to a can of beer, that would do the trick.SchopenhauerFTW wrote:Yeah, it's certainly not impossible.
