http://articles.nydailynews.com/2009-02 ... gle-speechLast year, one of his most lucrative since he left the presidency, Clinton earned $9 million to $10 million on the lecture circuit. He averaged almost a speech a day -- 352 for the year -- but only about 20 percent were for personal income. The others were given for no fee or for donations to the William J. Clinton Foundation, the nonprofit group he founded to pursue causes such as the fight against AIDS.
Don't think going back will be all the meaningful for a former president.President George W. Bush may have left office with a historically bad 22% approval rating, but he's still eager to impart his wisdom - for $150,000 a speech.
The former president will charge that hefty fee per pep talk - plus first-class or private jet transport for four - when he hits the lecture circuit next month with stopovers in Canada, the U.S. and other spots around the globe, sources told The News.

No. There's a ton more money on the speaking circuit and books. He'll prob work to get a library opened with his name and maybe open a think tank.

Probably a pointless thing to speculate about, given how he's gonna rock the shit out of the 2012 election.
SEE: campaign contributions, Republican ideological divisions.

I think those days are behind us permanently, personally.ahduth wrote:I see SCOTUS in his future.
I mean, even for career jurists and academics, the emphasis is so much on being inoffensive and invisible... I don't know what about that would suggest a (divisive) politician --> SCOTUS appointment.

Yeah, the SCOTUS thing probably won't happen, and probably shouldn't happen. There was that one court of appeals appointee ofhis who taught at stanford or something and wasn't approved by the senate because he was so partisan. That's definitely an image a judge should at least try to have, it helps tie the whole impartial, objective aura together. But I don't see it happening.

Presidential library and speeches will take up enough of his time post (2012 or 2016) election.

Maybe he and Bush could team up and go to other countries and teach them how to spend themselves into economic disaster.

Re: Obama going back to UChi?
I think a lot of what Obama does will depend a lot on what his wife does. I remember an interview with a Harvad professor mentioning that when he say them at Harvard he thought Michelle was more likely to go into big politics than Barrack. I wouldn't rule out something big for her out yet.

Lame diss. Someone already shot it down for me though. You seem to be the "My political ideology can entirely fit on a cute little sign at protest" type personBartlebee06 wrote:Maybe he and Bush could team up and go to other countries and teach them how to spend themselves into economic disaster.

President Obama could nominate himself to SCOTUS.
Here is a speculative article on Obama on SCOTUS

I very seriously doubt he would go back into academia.

Michelle Obama when Durbin is finished (maybe) but she wouldn't be able to beat Mark Kirk (at least not in the current climate). I don't think she has the desire to do it from what I've read.
I think BHO will wind up being Secretary General of the UN or something insane like that. He may also coach the Bulls while being an adjunct at UChi law/UChi public policy. Obama on SCOTUS would be true baller status, I think that would be awesome if he did it.
