If a student goes to a very good law school (we'll use University of Chicago in this example) but wants to end up practicing in a different state (we'll use California), what exactly are the steps he or she needs to take to do this?
Does the student have to find summer jobs each year in California? Or could he find summer employment in Chicago and still be able to end up practicing in California once he graduates?
And what about the bar review course? Does he have to move to California to take the bar review course, or could he take a CA course while still in Illinois?
Sorry if these are stupid questions, but I'm very ignorant.
edit: I guess there's a question sorta similar to this below mine. But I'd still appreciate answers about the bar review and such.

You'd probably want to work in Cali during the summers for networking and such.
