Missing a year in UG?
Firstly, I'm sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong place.
How damaging, if at all, would it be for me to take a year off of my Underdgrad (sophomore year) when applying to law schools? Long story short: I'm unhappy where I am now and want to move back to where I came from. I no longer have residency in my target state and don't want to rack up any unnecessary debt. So, I'm thinking about working and living there for a year to gain my residency back and get a cheaper tuition rate. The year will be put to good use, for sure. I have several offers to work on activism projects and I don't think finding a job will be too hard because I have a lot of connections in that city. Currently I have a 3.94 GPA if that matters at all.
Thanks in advance for any advice you can share. I need to get all of this figured out before Fall!

It won't be damaging. Just remember to write an addendum about why you took time off -- to volunteer, reestablish residency, etc.
And congrats on the great GPA!

Wonderful! I didn't know you could write an addendum for things like that on applications. Good to know.
Thanks a bunch!

You don't even have to write an addendum.cinephile wrote:It won't be damaging. Just remember to write an addendum about why you took time off -- to volunteer, reestablish residency, etc.

My mistake. I thought some of my apps asked to explain any break in your education.

I think an addendum would be great to clarify your situation.
