Bullies truly don't have low self-esteem. They actually have much higher self-esteem, which is why they bully.
(Random collection of social psych studies on self-esteem, figured it'd be good to know)

I'd say sometimes true, sometimes not. After years of working with teens, I've seen plenty of bullying driven by low self-esteem

Hmmm, interesting. I guess it partly depends on how you define self-esteem. The bully's over-inflated sense of self, possibly defined as high self-esteem, often seems like a mechanism to keep on the the "right" side of the bullying coin. I wouldn't call that true self-esteem, but I would certainly have to look at more reputable studies than simply my own experience.

Here's a study that finds Narcissism + High Self esteem leads to the greatest aggression (whereas low self esteem did not)

But some older studies seem to imply Bullies have low self esteem, so I guess it might be controversial?
We just learned in my social psych classes that Narcissism/High Self Esteem -> Aggression, so I assume that's what's currently the accepted belief.

I have a great reason/plan for going to law school, but no one else does.

Alternatively, everyone else has a great reason/plan for going to law school, but you don't.

You are not a special little snowflake. I don't care if you did sleep under a bridge while finishing college and manage to graduate with honors, someone else has done it and they did it better than you. If you want any shot at HYS, you'd better get on curing cancer or winning a few gold medals. Even then, it's a crapshoot really.
