Preparing for Law School- What should I do this summer?
I will be starting my 1st year of law school in August 2011. I have asked around with some people regarding what they recommend to do this summer to prepare to law school and make sure that my head is in the best place it can be when I start school.
I have been told to take it easy, read some books and enjoy myself by a few people. I have been out of school for 3 years and I want to know if anyone thinks it would help to take a writing course or a prep course and where they recommend I look for something like that.
Any other tips on how to get my mind in shape over the summer would be great.
Thanks,
JLondon

Kick back, don't psych yourself out. If you enjoy it, reading some lengthy and difficult books might re-hone your reading skills. You'll have three years of working yourself to the breaking point. Don't start it early unless you have to.Jslondon1 wrote:I will be starting my 1st year of law school in August 2011. Relax, do the things you enjoy to do in your free time, because your free time will be decreasing drastically once law school starts.

learn something that you won't have time to learn later on like playing a musical instrument, ballroom dancing, swimming, etc.

Actually, isn't that after law school when he makes it as a politician or in biglaw?TheFactor wrote:Hookers, blow, and golf....but not in that order.

Start a business from scratch, sell it right before you go to school.

I'm on the same boat and also plan on relaxing and taking a few trips, however, I do have a decent amount of free time with only a part time job.
I was wondering what readings I could do to prepare myself. Granted, curriculum are going to be different, but doing some core cases and outlining them seems like a useful way to spend time?
Or at least sites to help me learn "how" to read for law school or write outlines?
