Do scholarships get upped after the seat deposit?

Post by SupraVln180 » Fri Mar 25, 2011 1:15 pm

I am currently trying to negotiate with a few schools, most of them said they would get back to me when they see how much money they have left. Should I expect to wait until after the deposit deadline? I expect this, because seeing who will not attend potentially frees up a lot of cash. Or at that point, once I put my seat deposit down do I lose my leverage? How can I politely e-mail them and tell them to hurry up?

Why don't you pay the seat deposit at the top 2-3 schools? While this will cost you ~$500 it should pale in comparison to what you will gain from more scholarship money.

Think of it as insurance against risk. You still have leverage and you can call their bluff. $500 is a small price to pay for an extra $10,000-15,000 over 3 years.
