Which GPA do schools report?

Post by jwrash » Tue Feb 08, 2011 11:28 pm

Do law schools report the GPA you had when they accepted you or the GPA on your final undergraduate transcript?

Though, I'm not 100 percent certain, I am pretty sure it is your LSAC GPA.

The cumulative GPA is the important one.

If you look at the grids on LSAC under the Law School Description, most schools have a section for "No GPA," so why would it be the LSAC GPA? You always have an LSAC GPA as far as I know - it's even converted when you have an international degree. e.g.

--LinkRemoved--

Scroll to the bottom and see what I mean. If someone is an international applicant and has no LSAC GPA, please let me know - but if you do, see what I mean? How can you have no GPA if they are reporting the LSAC GPA.

i wonder if this is why schools usually require you to send your final undergraduate transcript directly to their admissions department, and not through lsac. to protect them from gpa dips after you're accepted?

Probably and to make sure you don't have senioritis. It is usually conditional acceptance.

yes but they specifically ask for that transcript to be sent directly to their office, i.e. not through lsac

Great, my school got the benefit of my 3.87 rather than my 3.67!
