Getting an early start for the University of Michigan
I'm a second year undergraduate and I've considered and decided on going to law school. I want to get a head start on building a great application. I spent my first year at a college that went by written evaluations so i don't know my gpa for sure, but judging by my evaluations and credits i've estimated it be around 3.5, 3.3 at the lowest. I'm aiming to get between a 168-172 on my lsat. I have pretty nice softs: student ambassador in the uk, 5 years voluteering, 4 of those as a library secretary organizing events and ordering books, president of my book club, and vice president of my school's gay straight alliance, tutor, band runner for a while, editor for my schools newspaper. I want to attend the University of Michigan and get a full darrow. I want to know what else i can do to beef up my application. I'm also an URM. It'd be nice to hear from some people who went to Michigan.

The best thing you could do at this point is work on getting that GPA number up. Even as an URM I think you'd be pushing it to get a Darrow with a 3.5 GPA.

No one really knows. There are too many variables (the most important being what your actual LSAT score will be, possibly followed by what kind of URM you are).Aigner17 wrote:would a 3.8 do it?
Just FYI, while it is important to have a well rounded "complete package" especially for a prestigious scholarship like the Darrow, law school admissions are largely a numbers game. The softs you have listed are definitely not exceptional, and no matter what it'll do you more good to improve your numbers than collect more softs.

This is meaningless until you have your LSAT score. Also, as mentioned above, your softs are average at best compared to other M applicants.
