disciplinary action

Post by jdausch1292 » Mon Nov 22, 2010 9:55 am

I see on the BC application, and I assume on all the question about recieving any disciplinary action from the school.
My first semester of college i had a 2.3 and got in trouble for playing beer pong in my dorm and had to do some community service.
I dont think I was on probation, but is this what the application refers too and is it necessary to disclose this?

i was a dumb 17 year old freshman, why is this needed for law school?

Was the incident documented by the school? I was also a dumb 17 year old freshman and everyone told me, "better safe than sorry".

Sounds like you have to answer "yes" and then just provide a brief addendum. I think there's information on TLS about how to approach these but from what I remember they recommend you just state the facts and own up to it.

I'm no expert but all that said, the incident shouldn't hurt your chances if you have a strong application otherwise. :)

100% yes disclose it, 100% no it won't negatively affect you as long as you write a concise paragraph that explains the situation and apologizes for your lack of judgment/appreciation for school policy.

DISCLOSE DISCLOSE DISCLOSE. I had some disciplinary issues in college and so far it hasn't hurt my cycle. What will hurt you is to withold that information only to have it come up in front of the bar. Submit an addendum with the facts (dates, infractions, and punishment) and just explain what you learned. Not submitting is basically lying, and the bar probably wouldn't look too kindly on that

i also have a dumb freshman year infraction. Just disclose dates, facts, and if you have no other alcohol related things against you, it wont hurt. I would bet that admissions people understand that freshman year students do these types of things ( and also understand that your freshman year gpa is lower than your senior year gpa- for reasosn of maturity or lack of). As long as this isnt one of many alcohol related incidents, or other incidents against you, you will be fine.
