What you should have asked is "How often have successful applicants gone over the PS limit ?"

Don't go over page limits. Word limits are fine within reason. Many schools had 500 word limits, but my PS was about 520-30. I sent em in anyway with good results. No one is going to count all your words; they'll just do a general eyeball check.

Yea they probably wont realize that it is 2 1/4 instead of 2 lol. Have you tried size 11 font, turning off orphan control, and removing the space between paragraphs? You might need only a line or two and if you have those straggling lines it might only take minimal cutting.JDHopeful wrote:yea, i went a paragraph over the page limit.

11 point is generally acceptable. All my versions, except for UCLA who explicitly requires 12pt font, are in 11pt. Work on the paragraphs with the least amount of words on the last line.AreJay711 wrote:Yea they probably wont realize that it is 2 1/4 instead of 2 lol. Re: How Often do ppl go over PS limit?
Wait, 11 pt is okay? I think I can manage with that.
I just submitted my first two apps, to schools that I'm at the 75% in on GPA LSAT, so I'm okay with them getting the version with the 1/4 page over..
Thanks for the advice..

Unless 12pt is explicitly required (like I said - UCLA). I have multiple acceptances showing that schools were ok with it. I think it's better to use 11pt with the right margins and line breaks than messing with margins/line breaks or go over 2 pages. I was told by 3 adcoms directly, in person that keep it within 2 pages. They gave me that advice while knowing that I have about 17 years worth of post school life experience to talk about.JDHopeful wrote:Wait, 11 pt is okay? I think I can manage with that.

Just think of it from the adcomm's perspective : They have TOLD you to write something 2 pages or less or whatever. You decide to disregard their instructions that they expect the hundreds/thousands of applicants to follow. Plain and simple. If your professor told you to write an essay about morality would you think its ok to write it about Chinese Checkers?

Are you using Chinese Checkers as a metaphor to address morality issues?

Most instructions say minimum 11 font. You can do 11 or 11.5 or 12, they won't care.
