Paying for Law School

Post by FlanAl » Wed Sep 15, 2010 2:09 pm

Searched under the above but didn't find what I was looking for. If someone could point me to the TLS article or if there is a thread on this that would be great.

This question might be stupid but I'm going to ask anyways. Is it pretty easy to get loans for law school?

I'm just kinda wondering when in the ED section of apps it says that applicants should make sure they can pay for school aren't most people planning on getting loans? How can I make sure that I can pay for school before going into a bank or whatever?

Thanks

If you are a US citizen, you pretty much just fill out a FAFSA and sign your life away on the dotted line. It's easy as pie to get loans.

Now paying them off, that's the tricky part.

In the ED contract, my guess is that they are saying this to eliminate financial hardship as an "out" for you to break the contract. In other words, if you get into school X ED but get no aid, and then school Y gives you a great scholly, you don't get to go back to school X and say you aren't going to go. (Technically you shouldn't be in that position, since, once you get an ED acceptance, you need to withdraw every where else (and if you got a great scholly before you got your ED result, you should have withdrawn your ED app).)
