Not a joke at all. A lot of pale faced 2l's walking around NYC today. This generation of lawyers is not in good shape.

Before making such a ridiculous thread, you might want to have evidence to back up your claim or be more than just speculating?

Re: Fordham Law OCI 2010-Absolute BLOODBATH
I never said that I have cold hard facts. I specifically said friends from Fordham and Columbia. Close friends. Top of the class friends who have all rejects. Is that not evidence? Isn't that better evidence than most 0L's who "speculate" on this board have?

You're saying top 10% at CLS was the only decile guaranteed a callback?Columbia Law wrote:I never said that I have cold hard facts. I specifically said friends from Fordham and Columbia. No I'm saying that the general consensus is that 10% is the bottom line if you scale this year's callbacks to previous year's. This is what people believe based on OCI experience and based on reactions from the CS office.

lololololololllololl
Fordham may have issues, but NYU and Columbia both placed on the order of 70% last year. You're right though, the market is probably 7x worse now than it used to be.
Also: it's EARLY. Nobody knows how OCI will pan out this year because OCI this year has barely even begun. This process takes time. People with early success are just that - people who have EARLY success.

Re: Fordham Law OCI 2010-Absolute BLOODBATH
LOLOLOL ROTFL.
No but really, did you just say that FIFTEEN PERCENT of Columbia grads will get biglaw SAs!?!?!?!? That is absurd.
Columbia and NYU will both be well over 60%, while Fordham will be in the ~20% or more range.
I'd also like to direct OP here:

http://amlawdaily.typepad.com/amlawdail ... r2011.html
Things are looking up as compared to last year (if only slightly), not MONSTROUSLY down like you predict. Things are still not good and no one should feel safe (especially at T20 schools and places like Fordham), but let's also not just make ridiculous, off the wall threads like this one. Keep it real, broski.

Wait, you really think only 15 percent of CLSers are getting CBs? You are terribly wrong.Columbia Law wrote:Not a joke at all. A lot of pale faced 2l's walking around NYC today. This generation of lawyers is not in good shape.

He could quadruple that and he'd still probably be off by a decent amount.dresden doll wrote:Wait, you really think only 15 percent of CLSers are getting CBs? Re: Fordham Law OCI 2010-Absolute BLOODBATH
Indeed. Submedian people are getting CBs at CLS for sure (and at Chicago, I add). I dunno who he hangs with but if he's seriously found top 20 percent CLSers without CBs, they must be the most socially ridiculous people ever. Either that, or they went with the WLRK or bust bidlist approach.romothesavior wrote:He could quadruple that and he'd still probably be off by a decent amount.dresden doll wrote:Wait, you really think only 15 percent of CLSers are getting CBs? Why has every firm I've interviewed with said that they're expanding their SA class compared to last year?mike123 wrote:he is right...my cousin had interview today and interviewer told him " you can expect numbers to be down 40% from last year...and that is an understatement" sorry

Re: Fordham Law OCI 2010-Absolute BLOODBATH
Skadden, Cravath, Jones Day, Ropes and Gray, Weil, and Cleary are all increasing class sizes. Proskauer Rose is holding steady. ATL has reported that most big firms have had 100% offer rates or damn close to it for this years class. There is really no evidence (other than a 2-post TLSer telling us an anecdote about his cousin) that things will be WORSE this year as compared to last. If I'm wrong, please correct me, but I feel like I've been pretty well on top of this for the past few months and I have not seen anything to indicate that things that will be worse.mike123 wrote:he is right...my cousin had interview today and interviewer told him " you can expect numbers to be down 40% from last year...and that is an understatement" sorry
Again, I'm not trying to say things are sunshine and rainbows. They're not. There is a chance that these increases will only occur at the top, and it is true that most students are still going to be hurting. But ridiculous claims are ridiculous, no matter how you slice it, and mike and OP need to calm down.

And what exactly did you achieve by that? You've got better things to do than go through the simplest of job searches that merely requires you to take the time to compose a bidlist and then show up to a few 20 minute interviews?revolution724 wrote:Thank you for making me glad again that I passed on OCI.
Oh, and btw, I've got a CB and I'm nowhere near top 10 percent. And I go to CCN. Hth.
Also, LOL at the cousin anecdote. Please provide names of the firm and school where this took place.

Re: Fordham Law OCI 2010-Absolute BLOODBATH
I did not get a law firm job, because I don't want one.dresden doll wrote:And what exactly did you achieve by that?revolution724 wrote:Thank you for making me glad again that I passed on OCI.
To clarify: I'm strictly public interest, I do not have the least interest in working for a firm and would very probably turn down an offer if they sought me out, approached me, and handed me a big check, and there weren't any non-profit organizations at which I might want to work participating. So what I achieved was a) not doing something I didn't want to do and from which I would not benefit if I did it, and b) consequently missing a lot of stress.

I'm not sure how you're missing stress you'd otherwise be experiencing. Those that don't want something presumably aren't stressed with whether or not they'll get it. I certainly wouldn't stress at all if I were going through OCI with zero interest in a firm job.revolution724 wrote:I did not get a law firm job, because I don't want one.dresden doll wrote:And what exactly did you achieve by that?revolution724 wrote:Thank you for making me glad again that I passed on OCI.

I have to work with pretty substantial introversion and social anxiety. I have developed some skill at managing it and have a good professional demeanor, and I do interview well as a rule, but it's hard on my nerves even if I don't want the job.dresden doll wrote:
