Rising sophomore at Duke with some questions!
Hey guys,
I'm admittedly pretty clueless when it comes to what I need to do to get into good law schools. I'm aiming for top 14 schools and had a couple questions about what I would need to get in. Just to have a model, let's say the school I'm looking at is Columbia:
Would a 3.887 GPA be enough?
What LSAT score would I need?
Do extracurriculars matter?
And finally, does what we major in matter at all? I'm thinking a double major in polisci and english.
Thanks for your help. I love law and am especially interested in constitutional law. I've already researched a ton about law school in general, but now I'm trying to get focused on what I need to do to get into some of the top 14 law schools.
Best wishes guys,
Helicio

I recommend learning to write without gratuitous use of parentheses.

I also recommend a class in how to use the search button.

OP, I feel a little bad that you immediately got jumped on. It's not the easiest search in the world, and I feel the frustration level among regular posters who see this kind of question several times a week sometimes boils over.
This topic gets covered a lot, but a quick answer to your questions -
1) That's a great GPA. Worry less about extracurriculars and keep that GPA up.
2) Don't shoot for a specific score that's "good enough" on the LSAT. Just shoot for the highest possible. But for comparison purposes, use Law School Numbers to see who Columbia accepted and what LSAT was usually enough with that GPA.
3) Not really. Mostly LSAT and GPA.
4) Again, not really. It's a numbers game.

So you're saying Kalvano and his mother have switched places?? Don't get the reference. I was assuming it was a Friday the 13th reference (which would make more sense, imo).Iconoclast wrote:http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0322330/thecilent wrote:That was on Wednesday =/Iconoclast wrote:

Edit- Reference makes a little more sense after reading 'As they literally walk a mile in each other's shoes, they gain a little newfound respect for the other's point of view.'

Re: Rising sophomore at Duke with some questions!
I guess it was too obscure... I meant that someone else must be in kalvano's body... because being nice to someone who made a post like the OP is out of character. It was supposed to just be a funny little jab. Looks like I failed miserably.thecilent wrote:So you're saying Kalvano and his mother have switched places?? Don't get the reference. Someday you'll have kids... and you'll watch lots of bad movies with them. I think it's nature's way of making sure we kick them out when they turn 18!thecilent wrote:No, no.. twas my fault. I need to watch more bad movies. But yeah, totally random Kalvano being nice moment.
