Adderall in Law School
How common is it for law school students to use adderall to help them stay focused/stay awake? More common than UG? At my UG, it's pretty prevalent and it seems like the gunner atmosphere at top schools would promote its use. Please, no comments from 0Ls.

This should answer your question.

Re: Adderall in Law School
addy was the reason for my 3.8 in college, I cant imagine studying for exams without it (I am not the type of study very much and depended on last minute addy cramming) . I never had a prescription, but a bunch of my fraternity brothers passed that shit around more that alcohol. So, I am not sure about everyone else, but I am going to find a supplier (or get a prescription) and take that shit to dominate LS
I did not take it for my LSAT though because it makes me jumpy.
I too am curious how conman addy usage is, especially at top law schools

I'm curious, what does it actually do for you? After taking it, is it simply "wow, I can stare at books for longer"?dukelawguy144 wrote:addy was the reason for my 3.8 in college, I cant imagine studying for exams without it (I am not the type of study very much and depended on last minute addy cramming) . You start reading a boring Econ chapter at 2am. The next time you look up from the book, you've read 100 pages and 3 hours have passed.

It just makes you focus but fancy (keep shaking my feet)... I dont think it makes you smarter but it makes you focus on boring material for much longer. I remember staying up for 24 hours after taking a 20mg xr and I crammed out a pretty sick history paper. I am a procrastinator (something I will need to change when I got to Law School) but it makes you super focused. I remember reading (no joke) 350 pages of a policy sci textbook in a day without a break (except to go to the bathroom cause it makes you piss like no other)Great Satchmo wrote:I'm curious, what does it actually do for you? Also, some people from college took it to stay up and party. I am the type to feed off the energy of others, so never used it for that purpose.

But does it help retain information? What about dense subjects like, what I expect, casebooks to contain?

If you are good at remembering things to begin with, then yes it will. I know many retards who took like 40mg a day and could not remember anything they did (they were focused though). If your problem is focus, then YES it will. If you are not smart enough to grasp the concepts even when you are focused then NO it will not help

Well I guess the only question left is how does a person like myself go about acquiring a prescription for this pharmaceutical drug... I mean can a run of the mill doctor prescribe it or does a psychiatrist do that? And do I just say I cant focus give me Adderall please? Or what?

This thread pisses me off.
I was fine with it in UG because things weren't graded on a curve. If people wanted to break the law and take education enhancing drugs, fine. But in LS when things are graded on a curve and people are competing for jobs, it is straight up cheating. No way around it.

I see Adderall as a shortcut to learning how to focus for extended periods of time based on will alone. People who take shortcuts always suffer the consequences of not developing their own character. Don't sweat it. You are at no disadvantage.

Addy is freaking awesome, whether you take it to party or study. But, I didnt use it for the lsat because i thought i would become way too dependent on it, its really addicting to the point where you cannot actually do work without taking 20mgs of the stuff. I have written 10 page papers in 6 hours that were borderline genius and im pretty sure if i found it earlier in college id have at least a 3.6 gpa. In law school, I plan on not using it regularly for the same reason as above though, I do not want to be dependent on that stuff to get my shit done.

I'm not on board with this. Popping pills for school is retarded. School's simply not that important, and any advantage the pills give you can be overcome by manning up, coffee, or both.
