Class dress and other queries...
Hey all, I'm new to the forum here. I've been enjoying the breadth of wisdom in these forums, and I have a few questions of my own.
I'm curious what kind of dress to expect at law school. May seem like a stupid question, but should I expect to wear a suit every day? Tie? Can people dress casually at law school, or does this depend on the school?

Hahaha. Dont be an ass.
Crunch, Nickwar's just messing with you. You dont have to wear a suit and tie everyday. You dress whatever way you want to dress. A word of advice, search for this topic. Its been asked a million times on here. You might find all your answers.

My suggestion is:CaptainCrunch wrote:Tuition at Catholic is fairly steep, not too mention living just outside of D.C. How and where can I cut costs? Any and every pearl of wisdom is greatly appreciated here.

Hey, I <3 my men's wearhouse suits. Just don't buy their cheap shit, stick to the designer labels.

His question has nothing to do with his choice in law school.
You do not have to wear a suit and tie. Dress as you did in UG.

I never understand why people worry what to wear in law school. I'm sure there will be days i'm decked out in a t-short and shorts. And i'm positive that won't hurt my biglaw chances.

Re: Class dress and other queries...
I think I worried about this briefly when I was a 0L. If I remember correctly, my fear stemmed from a combination of the promotional material of some schools showing the students in suits all the time, a general lack of knowledge about law school culture, the public perception that lawyers always wear suits, the feeling that law school was so substantively different from the rest of my education that a change in wardrobe was required, and that subtle but ubiquitous permeating fear most everyone has that somehow there is a way you are going to screw this up.Patriot1208 wrote:I never understand why people worry what to wear in law school. Of course, by this point in the summer I had already visited a few law schools (as hopefully y'all did before you picked one), so I already knew what law students wear. I am not optimistic about the OP liking Catholic if he did not do the same.

Loyola, you have turned into the TTT police.
OP, dress like you normally would. I usually am a polo and golf shorts kinda guy, and I plan to be that way in law school too. I may take it up a notch in law school, but that is more personal preference than anything else. Most students I've seen on LS visits were wearing anything from semi-dressy to t-shirts and flip flops.
And as for living frugally, just remember to live like a student and not a lawyer. Although coming from Catholic, I'm not sure there will be much difference.

Whatever you wore in college is fine.
Assuming, of course, you even go to class. I pretty much stopped showing up by 3L.

Only the finest suits money can buy. Dress for success. Those who appear successful are successful.

You will need to wear chaps every day. Also, it is prudent to invest in a sturdy 10-gallon hat.
