So my dell laptop that I purchased a year ago has offically become a door holder. I called Dell, and its not under warrenty, as it expiered 1 month prior to being broken. I am now in the market for a decent computer. I will be using it for essays and tests, research, and internet. ( Also to hold music from my ipod). What are some good laptops for the money. I will not purchase a dell, but am looking for a good one around 700-1k ish.
Also, are there any computer companies that have their repairs and technical support in the usa?
thanks

Re: laptop computer
buy a desktop, a netbook, and an external hard drive. the price of the three combined will be less than or equal to a decent laptop, but will give you portability as well as much better specs on the computer you use most.

I had the same question a couple months ago.
There's a 36 page thread on this. Search "best laptop for the money" or some such.

Lenovo.
Apple.
Asus.
Skip the Netbook unless you have creepy-thin fingers.
