Diversity of schools in hiring

Post by JerrySeinfeld » Tue Jun 08, 2010 3:23 pm

This might be a bad question but I read this in the UChicago profile;
"students also place well in other cities, like New York, since firms look to hire graduates from each top school."

Is this common place among law firm hiring?

Do firms dip deeper into schools where less students wish to practice in said city in order to achieve diversity of schools?
