Summer Start and Transferring

Post by username9 » Wed Apr 21, 2010 2:38 pm

How does starting in the summer affect transferring?

Will a transfer application even be accepted since the applicant will have more than one full year of course work upon entering 2L at the new school?

From what I understand, most schools will allow you to take a certain amount of units at another school. At Berkeley, it's like this:
For students who started at that school as 1Ls, they are allowed to take 8 units of study outside of the law school. As a transfer student, you can transfer in 30 units (the standard amount taken as 1Ls). However, I took summer school and had 3 extra units to transfer in. They allowed it under a separate petition. I WOULD have been able to transfer in a total of 38.

You might want to check with the schools you're looking to transfer to, but I hope this helps.
