Summer before law school
Obviously this is very much a personal choice influenced by a variety of individual factors, but I'm wondering what sort of things people plan on doing their summer before 1L. What sort of things do those in law school recommend doing? Just trying to brainstorm for my summer.

Party and bullshit and party and bullshit.
Lol, I'm taking the summer to tie up loose ends before moving and also doing some pleasure reading that I won't have time for during 1L

Re: Summer before law school
Well, firstly, I will be trying to find an apartment in my new city. Next, I plan to get a feel for my environment, so when law school starts, I will be accustomed to everything.
Also, I will be reading about things that interest me other than law: politics, race, and autobiographies of influential people.
Finally, I plan to find some volunteer opportunities because in law school I know that my time will be tied up.

+1. I stop working June 4th and already have a pool pass and have convinced a golf course into giving me a bulk/military discount so I can play often. I'm just learning golf...hopefully the practice does me good.sternc wrote:playing golf and going to the pool

I am getting a simple summer job. I am going to work at Barnes and Noble, which is the flagship for my new law school's book store which means 20% off textbooks for me
Besides that I will be spending time with my friends, family and boyfriend and enjoying the sites of my region of NY before I leave it.

Do most people plan on working? I figured everyone is running into a somewhat similar issue which is that we are all definitely going into a very specific field in the future, which we have no knowledge of right now. As such, we can't get jobs outside the field because people know we won't come back and we can't get jobs in the field because we know very little.

Working. Going to as many White Sox games as possible. Making my golf swing less embarrassing. Then leaving my job in late July to visit a couple friends & get settled in where I'm going to school.

Get into better shape. Read a stack of books. Do ten things that I've always wanted to do but have been too busy/chicken to ever attempt.

I'm going to be working my regular 9-5 and traveling (Florida, L.A., Eastern Europe). Will do some reading for pleasure, also.
That makes me think of another question: When is everyone planning on moving to their new city? I was thinking two weeks ahead of time, but I'd like time to explore the city. I just don't know if I want that bad enough to give up a couple of paychecks.

Just quit my job!!! Going to Belize in mid-May for 2 months to volunteer in an orphanage. Damn it feels good.
