Accepting Financial Aid

Post by bk1 » Sun Apr 04, 2010 7:36 pm

I have not yet received all of my decisions, but seat deposits are due. The school I have chosen out of the ones I have gotten responses so far sent me a financial aid offer and gave me 15 days to accept it. Is there anything negative that happens if I accept this offer and then choose to go to another school? Thanks for the info.

You lose your deposit...other than that I don't think anything negative will happen. I do think it is somewhat frowned upon though.

Read the terms of the offer carefully. Some schools will stipulate that you'll withdraw any other acceptances you have when you accept their financial aid offer. Not all of them do this, you'll need to read it fully to see.

Nothing happens. As long as you do not attend any classes, you are not liable to pay any expenses that you accepted. I had this issue arise during undergrad; I had financial aid accepted for a school that I never attended, and they tried to make me pay their first semester tuition....

Thanks for the info. Putting down a seat deposit doesn't bother me but I didn't want to make a decision on financial aid if the consequences could be adverse and I have time to wait.
