Stafford and GradPlus Loans

I figured someone here can help me out with this. When do I need to apply, and does it matter if I havent narrowed my choice to one yet?

Stafford comes from FAFSA and is capped at 20500 (8500 subsidized and 12000 unsub). The rest of your COA is borrowed through GradPLUS loans and are credit based. GradPLUS has a different application, contact your school for more info.
