keeping living expenses to 4K/year

Post by southernboy » Wed Mar 24, 2010 1:02 am

here's how to keep living expenses to under 5K per year. get a 4-person house and split the rent. The house i'm in is about $325 with utilites per person, meaning that your total housing cost should come to about $3900 per year. What about food you ask? its simple, you can theoretically spend less than $100/year on food if you buy the Jumbo packs of ramen noodles and eat them for bfast, lunch, and dinner. yum yum

$1300 a month for a 4 person house including utilities? Sounds like you live in Middle-of-nowheresville.

You would die of MSG poisoning. Plus, you are leaving out utilities.

There's a decent/nice 15 year old house in my neighborhood that's 1750 sq ft, 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath and $1200 a month for rent.

Again, you must live in the middle of nowhere. 4 bedrooms in this area will easily run 3000+ a month plus utilities.

I actually live in Memphis(I'm in undergrad right now). My 4 person house runs about 1100/month in rent. Its not exactly the middle of nowhere, but it has a pretty low COL.

Your medical expenses will soar eventually from all the Kidney Stones you develop as a result of the 1800mg of sodium per package of Ramen. This will offset some of the savings.

College town in a metro area with over a million people. I guess being called nowhere is worth $2k less a month in rent.

Fixed, though I'm sure it would be pretty cool to rent half a brownstone.

Ha further proof that Tennessee generally is the middle of nowhere.

I was calling Nashville MON in another thread not too long ago.
