USC or UCLA?
So I was wondering, what is the general consensus; UCLA or USC Law? I know UCLA is ranked higher, but I have heard that the networking through USC is better. Anyone have a information regarding the two schools? Thank you.

I think people usually end up going to the one that gives them more money, unless they are particularly interested in a specific program at either school.

UCLA's rep crushes USC with everyone except people who actually went to USC. Unless Sc coughs up substantial money, I don't even see it as remotely close.

Re: USC or UCLA?
The general consensus is that UCLA > USC outside of LA (even as close as SF), and they're about equal in LA. Since LA is in a better location, cheaper for most people, and has the better reputation and student body, the correct choice is UCLA.

I am not sure where people get this UCLA> USC. According the recent placement stats, USC beat UCLA pretty bad in placing into the NLJ250. Aside from this, I am not sure what to look at that suggests UCLA is better. Please enlighten?

I get it from working in the Los Angeles legal market. There is no doubt USC has a good network and So Cal rep. Also no doubt that it is a decent school. But the fact is it doesn't come close to beating UCLA's reputation in this market. I'll buy that their rabid alumn network and CSO are landing people jobs. But it is intensely regional (as in So Cal only). UCLA will get you anywhere in the West, and at least brushes a national reputation.Flanker1067 wrote:I am not sure where people get this UCLA> USC. This is only from one year of stats, the general trend has been UCLA > USC.Flanker1067 wrote:I am not sure where people get this UCLA> USC. If $ is equal, UCLA.
If you want to practice outsde of So Cal, UCLA.

Your class rank will have MUCH more of an impact on your employment opportunities than your school when you're talking about ones like these that are so closely ranked.

I am pretty skeptical of everything you say on the matter. I've found a few threads with you trolling about how pitiful USC is in comparison to the great UCLA. What's your stake in this?jks289 wrote:UCLA's rep crushes USC with everyone except people who actually went to USC. Unless Sc coughs up substantial money, I don't even see it as remotely close.
EDIT: I actually did a little more research (read "stalking") and I think you just have some prejudice against USC.

I'm making this choice as we speak. Can anyone direct me to some quantitative information, or a site/sites where information can be found?
