I actually really appreciate that people have this side of them too. I love meeting people who dont forget their dreams/where they came from. I think it keeps greed in checkAntigone wrote:Pastry chef, or PhD in Women's History
Is anyone else a little depressed by this forum? It is comforting to know that other people have things they would rather being doing than law school, but why are we all abandoning what we really want to do for law school?
Rhetorical question, yes.
Answer: Money.

I want to fall ass backwards into money and beautiful women, and have no real job or responsibilites. I want my whole life to be a fantasy camp. Basically, I want to be Cosmo Kramer.

I wanted to be a Ballerina-Astronaut or Endel Tulving. But I am neither clever nor graceful.

I am sure I am not the only person whose dream was realized... Don't feel depressed, you can always try to pursue them later when you can. But ya, don't ever forget.nyyankees wrote:I actually really appreciate that people have this side of them too. I love meeting people who dont forget their dreams/where they came from. I always wanted to be Supreme Dictator of the Universe but somehow that doesn’t seem like enough anymore.

wall st/investment banking. alternatively creating a successful startup company. i told santa claus i wanted one million dollars for christmas when i was 6 .
i went to a second tier undergrad though so i plan to lateral there via law. i don't actually mind, i find law quite interesting. it just wasn't a career path i took seriously until later in life.

Concert pianist. I still daydream about playing in a major concert hall with a huge orchestra behind me. You kind of have to have talent for that though...

I think 99% of what's on tv or in movies is complete shit, and I cringe every time I see a multimillion dollar production with a terrible script, cheap tricks to create drama and suspense, and lame ass cliched plots. I wish I had a chance to prove that I could do better. Every tv drama should be The Wire. Less Spartacus Blood and Sand, more HBO's Rome.

I worked in the music industry for six years as a DJ, radio station manager, writer, promoter, and booking agent. Never got any long-term offers and usually came in under 10k a year. Law is actually a less risky choice for me.

I dreamed of being an artist as a kid. I did it.
I don't want to be an artist anymore. I want to be a lawyer.

Either way I wasn't born at the right time, and I could never have been an astronaut, so I decided to go to law school instead.
