Re: You're going to LS, but what did you REALLY want to do?
I regret not trying out for my college football team as a walk on. Im fast, have good hands and good vision. I would have made a good running back. In MY opinion. hahaha.
What I really want to do is have an animal sanctuary (Like Best Friends Animal Society) where homeless animals can live out their days peacefully.
Now my desire to go to LS is partly because I want to make enough money to start my sanctuary. Its just a springboard to the next thing.

Its over rated, been there and you have to give too much, for not much. If your friends stop playing, which they inevitably do, its not fun anymore.AsylumPB wrote:Pro paintball player
I always wanted to be a professional stuntman / snowboarder / everest climber in my free time while actually being Tony Stark and working on cars and creating toys like robots / flying suits / and classic cars.
One day it will all happen, I guarantee it!

Tell me how to do this...ConMan345 wrote:: OCupidity wrote:I was a pastry chef, you can.ConMan345 wrote:SCOTUS/9th Cir. Justice/judge or Stanford Law professor
I'm a nerd, I know ><
Edit: However, when I was a little kid, I wanted to be a pastry chef because I thought I'd be able to eat most of what I made.
Unfortunately, I also have almost completely lost my sweet tooth over the years...

Re: You're going to LS, but what did you REALLY want to do?
I tried thinking of something else I'd rather be doing but I really can't. At one point I thought about using my family connections in Iran to be some sort of international business consultant for companies that wanted to set up branches there, but the sanctions aren't going away any time soon so I gave up on that idea. Being an author would be cool, but I'd have to have some interesting life experiences first so I couldn't really do that right now anyway.

Thank God for this thread! I've been fighting off minor bouts with depression these past few days over this issue. When I was younger I always wanted to be an NBA player, but ended up being way, way too short as I now stand 5'6". Then when that dream faded away I wanted to be a comedian - but the reality is to become an entertainer you have to commit at least 10 years to trying to make it big - and with this economy that just isn't something I can afford to do. What helped me the most was I realized that in reality the majority of people's dreams never come true. It just sucks that as kids they told us anything was possible!!

Play in the Boston Pops.
I was on the right track ~ 16 years ago. Accepted to Julliard, then I had a motorcycle accident that destroyed my wrist.

Actually in this economy it seems like it'd be the best time to try your hand at something non-traditional, your opportunity cost will never be lower.Johnson132 wrote:Thank God for this thread! Other things they told us when we were kids that turned out to be bullshit:
Looks aren't important, it's what's on the inside that counts.
Work hard and you'll succeed.
Love conquers all.

Re: You're going to LS, but what did you REALLY want to do?
I've been lurking on this forum for ages without registering, it took seeing this thread to make me pull the trigger. In a way it's depressing, but in a way it's also reassuring to know that I'm not the only person entering LS in 2010 that didn't grow up with aspirations to be a lawyer.
What did (do) I REALLY want to do?
- Jazz saxophonist/university pedagogue/historian
- Professional dog trainer for the army, FBI, or police force
- Small cafe/silent movie theatre/hip nightclub proprietor (I have the business plan already prepared)
- Author
- Professional tennis player or professional-caliber coach
- Medical marijuana dispensary proprietor (c'mon Ohio!)
- Professional dating coach
- Rockstar (in an alt rock band that sounds something like Interpol meets The Faint)
I, like many others here, hope to use a career in law as the means to achieve one (or more) of those ends.

yeah man that's just life.....its all the luck of the draw. For every rockstar there are 100,000 rockstars that didn't make it. I was stressing over my "dreams" not coming true for a while but I've just come to accept it and work with what I've got. Don't let it bother you. Trust me - it'll eat you alive! lolJDizzle wrote:I've been lurking on this forum for ages without registering, it took seeing this thread to make me pull the trigger. But what you labeled lies, are in fact, lies. Well, the last one is arguable, but a little bit of nationalism never hurt anyone. Emphasis on little.TigerBeer wrote:Wow that sounded way more bitter than I intended.

I'd like to be the hot girl version of Indiana Jones.
Or actually be Holly Golightly.
Or a princess somewhere.
I'm not too picky.

Re: You're going to LS, but what did you REALLY want to do?
i somehow realized this when i was 6, depressingly enough. when all my friends wanted to be pro-sports players, i offered to be their agent because I already knew I wouldn't make it. of course even that is hard to come by, but that has been my dominant attitude thus far in life and i usually kill dreams before they start. running a startup company still lives on thoughJohnson132 wrote: yeah man that's just life.....its all the luck of the draw. Syndicated cartoonist, but I'm about 20 years too late for that. Tried the web thing and it's a pain, although I may make a weekly law school related comic (kinda like the law school blogs everyone seems to have).
