LEEWS OLDER EDITION OK?

Post by awonderful » Thu Feb 18, 2010 1:19 pm

Currently I have the 6th edition of the primer(2003) along with the audio. Has anyone compared newer and older editions? The 8th edition is the most current to my understanding. Is it worth it to shell out $160 for the revisions? or are they just not that substantial.

Good luck with that. I found it to be a pretty big waste of time, and numerous books are more useful and quicker to use.

I would have been honestly kind of pissed if I had paid for it.

You can get the used book for $30. Are the CD's really that helpful?
I've heard good things bout LEEWS.

I think its only a waste of time for those who already understand that an essay exam is really looking for a clear and concise answer that identifies and tackles the issues that the questions are directed towards.

A lot of "smart" highschool kids and UG got away with bullshitting essays and might mistakenly believe they can do this is LS. LEEWS tries to dissuade such illusions and might get some of the new kids on the right track before bombing their exams comlpletely.

I think the older edition would be fine. His main ideas are basically the same.

I think at one point Miller was putting the chapters in nonsensical order to prevent resale (he no longer does this). If yours is from that era, make sure it comes with the decoder. I bought the CD program new and resold it when I was done. My net cost was $35, and it was worth every penny. For fruitcake issue spotters, LEEWS helps you destroy the exam. The writing system is not helpful for short answer/multiple choice exams, but I only had one of those first semester. The study system is the shit. It cuts through all the bull that most students busy themselves with and prepares you for the exam.
