Senioritis - Has anybody caught it?

Post by scionb4 » Wed Feb 10, 2010 2:40 am

It's my last semester of undergrad. I've been accepted to a few law schools. Holy crap is it hard to care about classes right now. My uncle, a lawyer in Chicago, told me to not take it easy this semester because I need to be in a hardworking mindset when law school starts. But it's so hard to!!!!! Yet, here I am, up at 12:38 in the computer law at Valpo's student union reading "The Beggar's Opera" for a theatre class. :x Yuck. Actually, it's a really entertaining play, I highly recommend it.

Anywho, anybody else having trouble with the senioritis flu outbreak. It can be nasty!!!

I've got it pretty bad. I only have 12 credit hours, compared to the 21 hours I was taking during spring semester of junior year. My cycle is actually pretty close to being over and I have been very pleased with how things have turned out, so I am coasting in a bad way.

I am trying to enjoy myself, I will likely not see many of my college friends for a long time (if ever) once we graduate. I too thought about not wanting to slack so I would be prepared for next year, but I know how to work hard, and the stakes are high enough that I think I will be able to motivate myself pretty easily.

It's really bad for me...I'm taking all boring requirements for graduation. None of the usual interdisciplinary courses filled with debate, conversation, and interesting topics...can't wait for it to be over!

lol. I have my graduating thesis due, plus 2 6 credit courses, and a smaller 3 credit ones. Both of the six credit courses are discussions. Im also a youngin with transfer credits from ib, which means the 27 credits that are due in my last semester happens to comprise 1/3 of my undergraduate gpa, which will make or break HYS for me.

Senioritis would be lethal.

+1 to this thread. I'm finishing general requirements that I wasn't able to transfer from my old school. I'm taking French 102 and a sociology survey, along with a British Lit survey, which is in my major but boring as hell. I am NOT spending a great deal of time on classes right now.

Taking 4 classes. One of which doesn't assign homework. Second semester senior year ftw.

Yep. The only thing that is keeping me from being a complete and total couch potato is that I'm not done with either of my degrees yet, so I'm not out of the woods, and I won't be until April.

I am for sure. On the plus side, I only have two research papers to write this semester. The rest of it's reading and discussion, minor papers, and a couple of theatre design/drafting classes that aren't too hard, just a lot of tedious work at times. It doesn't help that there are only two other people in the design class who can't manage to show half the time, even though it's been cut from three days a week to only one. Being taught by our boss, too, so I feel guilty if I skip.

Taking 12 credits. Only have to go to class Tuesday through Thursday. I'm currently contemplating whether or not to study for a quiz. I have that nasty little germ that's called senioritis pretty bad

I have a related condition in which I am utterly useless at my job. I'm basically just sitting in a cube waiting to quit or get fired. Good times.

I disagree with your uncle. You don't want to be burned out before you even begin.
Believe me, you won't have any difficulty getting motivated once school starts. 1L's angst is palpable. Even if you are not an inherently competitive person, the LS environment will make you paranoid enough to bust ass.

I've pretty much stopped attending classes on a regular basis... I kind of check in every once and a while for tests and quizes.

Yep, I've caught it as well. Finished my Political Science degree last semester so now I'm just finishing up my Spanish degree (4 Spanish classes this semester  ). In retrospect, that was an awful idea. I just don't care about Spanish lit.

That's a good point. Have you already gone through it, or is this speculation?

I'm kinda like that. I only have class on Monday and Wednesday and I still can't get myself to go to all of them. I don't even go out on Tuesday night, I just don't care about going (and it's cold outside).
