Law School Cases
Hey, where can I find some law cases that I may read during 1L? I would like to read a few before I start.

It'll be useless. You won't get anything out of reading the case because you'll be doing it wrong. You won't be able to learn how to do it right because you won't have the live feedback you get from being cold-called and listening to people get cold called.Aloha4 wrote:Hey, where can I find some law cases that I may read during 1L? Once when I was wiki-ing Posner, I ended up reading this case:

Not sure if you'll be assigned it as a 1L, but it should give you an idea what a case looks like.

TITCR. The point of reading cases in law school, and what the Socratic method is designed to teach you, is to learn how to read cases like a lawyer instead of a layman. You reading at home minus that training will not further that goal. You will pick out all the wrong things, nor wrestle in your mind how to reconcile seemingly inconsistent holdings. Just wait for law school. Get a girlfriend or something.rayiner wrote:It'll be useless. You won't get anything out of reading the case because you'll be doing it wrong. read Cardozo's opinions, he's a baller. And Learned Hand, he's useless. That's really all you need to know to get all As and be at the top of your class!!
