Best Place to Snuggle With Your Books
So...
I'm still waiting to hear back on schools, but I amuse myself by looking on craigslist in the areas around schools I've been accepted into and realistically expect to get into for fun.
I like to nest, and I come with a very nice full bedroom and living room set which I'm willing to give up, but don't really want to. I live to live on my own and have my own space...but I'm also a single girl who will be going to a brand new place and will want to make friends and get to know fellow students easily.
For all of you who have been in the same situation (or will be in the same situation), which would be your ideal housing situation (pretend money doesn't matter)? And why? And unless it was an on-campus deal, how did you pick out your place/roomie?
I know some of you will be in relationships that you're taking with you to law school or will be living in areas with support systems already in place...but keep in mind that isn't me. Thanks!

This question is pretty dependent on the law school you're attending, but I've always thought that college (under or postgrad) is a great time to meet new people and this is most easily accomplished if you live with other people. But that's just me.
Also, if I had a bigger car, that would win out.

I know people are voting without replying. Thhhats right. I'm looking at you.
Ezra--I agree with the relative to school thing...but I was hoping someone might have any general advice from their own experiences, no matter what school they came from.

Do people really prefer to live by themselves? I find it so boring.
Even when I do live by myself, I'm always at someone else's place.

I like to set up my own space, and have a place to go to where I can just chill out completely and not worry about making noise, picking up after myself, asking before inviting others over, or having sex against the fridge. I think its because I'm constantly around people my age at my job, and I see my friends a ton on the weekends, so I don't feel deprived at the moment. I definitely like it, but I really hate feeling lonely (who doesn't) and wouldn't want to put myself in a situation that might happen more readily.shadowfrost000 wrote:Do people really prefer to live by themselves? Really can't say without knowing the school... You'd be crazy to do anything but get your own place at Duke, and crazy to do that at Columbia.

Money, lifestyle, and quality of university-provided housing The law dorms at Mich. are super-convenient, and lots of people love them, while Duke doesn't have any (if I remember correctly). CLS graduate housing is a great deal, and nice, while NYU's is just OK and not super-cheap, but in both cases finding an NYC apartment from across the country can be risky. There are lots of things I'd factor in, depending on the school/city.Pearalegal wrote:For any reason other than money?Renzo wrote:Really can't say without knowing the school... I have something that does that too. It's an oversized sweatshirt. And, as a bonus, if I had a terrible accident and the paramedics had to come get me, I wouldn't die of shame!Pearalegal wrote:It keeps your hands free!Renzo wrote:...Pearalegal wrote:I have one in pink. Bought it at UVA. No joke.
