Bwaaah? If you think a state bar even approaches the SSBI, you're smoking some good stuff (especially considering that the FBI is the keeper of that lovely "have you ever been arrested" data).
Maybe a DoD TS is different, but the FBI isn't the agency that conducts them. Arrest records are not the issue. Besides, that was a half-joke.
To clarify, a TS for the FBI, the DOJ, DHS, the DOD, etc, are all considered equal. The different organizations just go about it a different way. The FBI conducts their own security clearance, often first year agents are stuck doing this for several months. But the DOJ and most other agencies outsource most of the investigations to private companies that win government contracts. For me it was a company called USIS that did most of the investigation. You go through a personal interview, they interview friends, family, and neighbors, they call past employers, they look through banking and legal documents that pertain to you, travel records that were out of the country, and phone records or messages if you have continued contact with foreign nationals. So yes arrests are part of the picture, but not nearly all of it. (I had to write a statement about underage drinking that I had admitted to in my interview.).

Edit: they also do polygraphs if they so choose but it depends on the job and that is technically called a TS/SCI

I can guarantee that adcomms are not impressed with this if your LSAT/GPA are crappy. Thus we can conclude that what you have just discussed is not a strong soft.

I got nominated in 2006 and 2007 for an Adult Video News award for best "Oral Sex Scene guy/guy interracial category" but did not win. It was nice to be nominated for my work though. But in 2009 I did bring home the gold for best "gangbang: bottom, in a support role in a POV film."

Ebnough for adcoms to overlook my crappy LSAT? Should I sent a DVD copy of the sescnes I was nomiated for?

I think they're going to want harder proof. Better schedule a visit.

If you were the URM in the interracial then yes, this is a sterling example of a strong soft.

I think it depends on the school, I think NYU in Greenwich village would love this, but Columbia is a bit more stuffy, also there is no doubt that any school in california, especially berkeley would put you in the auto admit.

With stats of 3.8/154 , I am confident that my softs had something to do with my being admitted to so many schools, and being offered so many scholarships. Yes, I am URM, black female - but I know of others with the same URM status and better LSAT/GPAs that did not even get admitted to some of the schools I was admitted to, and some where admitted, but no scholarship offers, I got scholarships ranging from $4K year at a T1 to Full scholarship at a T2 (which I accepted), and many $18K / $20K / year offers at T3s and T4s.

My softs:

-Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology
-Work experience as a family theparist
-5 Years as an exuctive director for a multi-national company, for which I did multiple trainings and seminars, was a speaker at their annual convention in Atlanta in 2007 with over 8000 in attendance
-Founder and CEO of a company that grossed over a million dollars in sales for several years, gorwing to a workforce of over 500 in just 3 years
- Lived / worked in several countries: USA, Canada, Jamaica, China
- Travelled to at least 10 other countries
- Ability to communicate with the deaf through sign lanuage
- TONNES of volunteer stuff at my local churches over the years - working with youth groups, fine arts ministries, etc.
- Mother of one (not sure if that counts)

There is your reason, and also your reason why you should just stick with what you have and not go to a TTT.

This is conjecture: she never indicated that these were still viable options. They may be, then again, they may not.

I dunno. I don't think that it's a reach at all for a 3.8/154 URM female to get those schollies.

Your right, but i'm assuming at least that since she founded the one company and it was so profitable that it grew to over 500 employees in three years that she must have done a good enough job to either still be the acting CEO or she would have been able to sell the company for so much money that she wouldn't need to take a scholarship to a tier 2 school.

Presumably, but ITE anything is possible. That's why I was wondering if she was getting her JD to supplement one of the above accomplishments.

Well the thought had crossed my mind, but she certainly wasn't the founder of Mary Kay, so that would have to be an outright lie.

I mean, I assumed it was probably your typical resume fluff, but I didn't feel the need to call her out on it. Then again, there are people who go for JDs to supplement their profession. I work in medical research atm and several of the docs went for a JD after their MD

Doesn't look like MaryKay had a convention in Atlanta in 2007. Keep digging.

Sorry it took me so long to respond, never thought i'd create such a wave, so didn't think to check back sooner. Well, I will admit first that to some it may seem like resume fluffing, but there are no lies involved. I was completely honest, but I presented myself in the most attractive way possible - as is customary when one drafts a resume.

And no, it's not Mark Kay, but it was work done with another network marketing company.

Notice I never said 500+ employees, I said a "workforce" of that many ... I started recruting people for my home based business while I was in grad school and working 2 part time jobs, and I hustled it really hard and it blew up into a phenominal success in a few short months. I was promoted to executive director in the company, and because of my fast/steady success - I was invited to speak at the companies annual convention - which was in Atlanta in 2007. That year I also won an awar as the #6 marketing executive in the world for the company, and was given a trip to Tahiti (Bora Bora) as an award ... another soft ;). They flew me to Idaho and svereal other areas to do tranins and seminars as well. I wont keep you guessing about the company either -heres a link from 2007 when I was shortlisted as one of thsoe who could qualify for the President's Club award ...
--LinkRemoved--

Now because my business grew so fast, any my income spiraled form $8/hour to over quarter million a year in less than a year, my accountant avised me to form a corporation for taxation purpose, I therefore FOUNDED and became CEO for my company, which contunied to grow as a network marketting business. I actually peaked with close to 5000 members in my organization, but most of those were just customers, between 500 and 1000 were activley trying to refer others and earn also ... hence I had a "workforce" of over 500 team members.

Sia - I must say you raised the best point of all ... is this option still viable. The answer is no, and it is why I am looking at more career options (law ahs always been my goal). Not that the company no longer operates, they do, and I still have friends who are executive directors and doing quite well, but they have withdrawn from doing business in Jamaica, the country I built the majority of my business in (large % of my customer base), and so my organization dwildleg to a little over 1000, the amount I still get paid on today. Additionally, it's the type of business where you will keep having to refer new people to earn at the highest levels, and after a while, I just could not do it any more - I was tired of meeting new people with the sole purpose in my mind of recruintg them for a home based business. I just wanted to have dinner with my family without thinking about my next meeting or who I could sign up next. It got old for me ...

So Matthie is also 100% right on this one, I NEED a change of scenery, and to pursue my life long dream of studying the law.

If that sounds like BS to anyone, I guess it may be to you. But I certainly don't think so, and Adcon didnt either.

And yes, SaintCalerence, getting a full scholarship form a T2 with my stats as a URM is a reach - a friend of mine with 161/3.84 got accepted to the same school that offered me the full scholy, but she got no money, and she only got in from the waitlist. So I think the experience has some bearing, otherwise she would have gotten the schooly over me any day. I also know of others with similar numbers to mine who did not get in at all.

I'm not saying that this was the only factor, but seems to me it played a roll.

Called it.

How are referral programs different than this? The bottom always gets screwed.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
