Indeed.northwood wrote:Moving 350 miles. Moving all of my furniture ( for a furnished 1 bedroom apt with a reading room) in a 17 foot Uhaul except for my dressers that are too heavy and bulky. Will buy those pieces at my new city and have them delivered. Brining my golf clubs, tv, liquor cabinet stock and a bag of clothes in my car and the rest in the Uhaul.
Have to leave the dog with my parents- as hes too sick to make the trip and needs to be let out of the house every 3 hours to go to the bathroom, or he goes in the house. Its tearing me apart on the inside, but he loves my parents house, so hes in a good place ( plus the vet lives down the street from them).
Sorry to hear about the dawgy

Renting a full size Ryder Truck to put all our furniture and belongings in. Driving in that from Texas to DC, with my wife and two dogs in the cab and our car hooked up behind the moving truck. It's gonna be nuts.

nice to see so many others in the 'trashing everything' camp. Ebay? Craigslist? Where are you disposing of your rubbish?

pretty much everything I own / want to take with me can fit in my SUV. Moving 10+ times in college = no real stuff besides clothes.

I filled my sedan with whatever it could hold. So pretty much a suitcase filed with clothes and shoes. A few bags filled with hygiene products, sheets, comforters, some momentos, my bookbag filled with books, and my laptop.

Still haven't decided if I'm taking my car with me, which means the difference between driving and flying there. If flying, loading two suitcases with clothing and a few valuables and buying what I need in Ithaca.

Seattle to Ithaca.
Going to ship most of my clothes in UPS boxes to my dad's brother in NYC, go on a whirlwind vacation to the Bahamas and Cabo San Lucas, then roadtrip from Florida to Ithaca, with a pit stop in NYC to pick up the boxes.

Pittsburgh to Athens.
I've moved 9 times in the last decade. I'm sick of packing and unpacking so I'm hiring pro's.

I'm moving 7000 miles involving a 24 hour train, 14 hours on a plane, and a long ass car ride. Fortunately, all my possessions fit in one suitcase and a big hiking pack, so I'm good to go.
Buying furniture's going to make a dent in my budget though...

Buying all new things and bringing out the expensive things (IE TV, PS3, computer, etc.).
Going to cheap the fuck out on furniture since I'll hardly be at home, anyway.
I can fit most everything I actually need in my car.
