Why not? Why is Helvidius' list TCR? Why does he put Berkeley > UT? Why is the cutoff between MVPB and DCNG?kittenmittons wrote: Why?

Homeboy did tours in bigtex and his breakdown jive with other anecdotes I have heard from people in bigtex.RVP11 wrote:Why not? Why is Helvidius' list TCR? Why does he put Berkeley > UT? Why is the cutoff between MVPB and DCNG?kittenmittons wrote: Why?
On second glance, I don't agree with boalt being above UT either because its boalt. I see the cutoff T10/13+GT cutoff there because the T10-13+GT are essentially super-regional, save maybe Duke.

Re: Best Law School for Texas?
Search a couple of firm sites and see how many Berkeley grads actually work in TX. I haven't found any yet. I understand self selection, but I can't make myself believe that coming from a school with maybe single-digit representation puts you in a better position than coming from a school with representation in the 100s.kittenmittons wrote:Homeboy did tours in bigtex and his breakdown jive with other anecdotes I have heard from people in bigtex.RVP11 wrote:Why not? Compare Yale and Nebaska in Omaha. Does Nebraska win?chrisokc wrote:but I can't make myself believe that coming from a school with maybe single-digit representation puts you in a better position than coming from a school with representation in the 100s.

Right. If the guy can get into Berkeley, he can get into Nebraska. But this guy knows he only wants to work in Nebraska. This guy LOVES the Cornhuskers - wears the corncob hats. The big firms in Omaha and Lincoln are crawling with Nebraska grads. Why doesn't this kid just go to Nebraska? He saves some cabbage and doesn't have to move out of his apartment for his 2L Summer. Plus, he runs into a lot of partners at the Nebraska football games.RVP11 wrote:Compare Yale and Nebaska in Omaha. Because even big firms in Omaha generally are going to be hiring through OCI or resume drops, and they're not interviewing Joe Median at Nebraska, while I'm sure they'd love to have Johnny Omaha Who Went to YLS.chrisokc wrote:Right. Again, I'm not saying which one is the better overall decision. I'm saying School X is better for getting a big firm job than School Y. I'm showing why just because no one from your school goes to Market X that doesn't mean that firms in Market X wouldn't love to have someone from your school. And just because big firms in Market X are swimming with local school grads doesn't mean local school grads have a better chance at getting a job there.

Of course. A lot of getting a gig has to do with personality. Certain people may do better in the Dallas market by going to UT or SMU. Those would be the types of people who take advantage of networking opportunities or those who are generally more likable. For others, a diploma that has a top-14 name may help to compensate for other real or perceived shortcomings. Some people may have both great networking skills and a top-14 degree, and they will likely find a way to succeed in any market. Others may have the personality of a dead catfish coupled with a degree that would be well-supplemented with some quality networking, and they will likely find themselves in an unfortunate situation after graduation.RVP11 wrote:Because even big firms in Omaha generally are going to be hiring through OCI or resume drops, and they're not interviewing Joe Median at Nebraska, while I'm sure they'd love to have Johnny Omaha Who Went to YLS.chrisokc wrote:Right. Then, you may have a guy like me. A great-looking stud with a rock star aura who was rejected by UT and accepted by SMU.

I bet it's your user name. They suspect you're from Oklahoma. You should have gone with amarillo-chris or lubbock-chris or longhorn-chris or something.chrisokc wrote:Then, you may have a guy like me. A great-looking stud with a rock star aura who was rejected by UT and accepted by SMU.

I probably shouldn't have included the line in my personal statement about Barry Switzer being my personal God.soonergirl wrote:I bet it's your user name. They suspect you're from Oklahoma. Last year they rejected me a few days after the Big 12 awarded OU the three-way-tie conference title over UT and Tech. I swear it wasn't a coincidence.chrisokc wrote: I probably shouldn't have included the line in my personal statement about Barry Switzer being my personal God.
They let me in this year, I think mostly because they had a better year in football. Or maybe because I printed the application on orange paper. One or the other.

You must not have been very good at the LSAT, because it is entirely possible that the Chicken Wings sucked and they were the best part of the meal, especially considering the soggy fries and watered down Coke.forza wrote:--ImageRemoved--Solerpower wrote:Just do us all a favor and leave.forza wrote:How has it been ignored that the OP is the guy who posted this:

There really is no contradiction there, unlike my OP in the thread you are referring to.
