I am a heavy Apple user, have been for about a dozen years). I have over 20 years of professional IT experience, with the last dozen years working in InfoSec, both my bachelors and masters degrees are related to IT. I can honestly say that among the highly tech savvy, Mac systems are quite popular.cavalier1138 wrote:Honest question for those on the Apple train here (genuinely not intended as an insult): what is your level of computer literacy?
I hate Apple and everything they make, but I'll suck it up if there's a genuine problem with PCs and the exam software. However, my general experience in the past has been that when people recommend Mac products, it's because they prefer the ease of use and the aesthetics of the product, not necessarily because they have a lot of technical experience.

Sorry, I promise I'm not trying to start a Mac vs. PC war. And I'm sure that lots of tech savvy people use Macs. But my question is whether there is a genuine problem with exam software being unstable on PCs. Some of the posts here have implied that they use Macs for stability, and I'm just trying to figure out if that's from the vague public idea that Macs are more stable or from a genuine issue with Windows and exam software.haus wrote:I am a heavy Apple user, have been for about a dozen years). I think that it is a safe to say that exam software sucks. The quality of this class of software is well below par, and I suspect that few schools that actually review the quality of the software that they demand their students use would actually be willing to by this crap. Sadly for us, few schools seem to give a damn about the user experience of their students.

I have a surface book, too, and it hasnt crashed since i got it home. Although i have to admit this is the 4th one i exchanged for...but microsoft has wonderful customer services, so you should try bring it back and get a new one since it shouldn't crash every day. They gave me a new one after hearing my complaints about battery and crashes (thought the new one doesn't last any longer with a single charge...)
