Re: 0Ls: What's your plan B?
If law school doesn't work out it my backup plan is to use my journalism degree and try and break into the gaming press. Aside from practicing law that is the only thing I could see myself enjoying and even then I'd rather be a lawyer. Of course from everything I've read getting a job with a video game site or magazine is pretty hard in and of itself.

Suck it up and stay in my current profession to retirement. This may happen anyway, given the complexities of my life.

3) Retire after 20 years with 50% of salary.
4) Buy tons of condos/multiplexes.
5) Move to Monaco and live off passive income.

Re: 0Ls: What's your plan B?
I need to get one. I'm an older student and extremely debt averse, so I only applied to schools way below my numbers for the scholarships. I've tried not bothering the admissions secretaries too much, but they (of course) have been wonderful answering my questions and promising me way too much IF I am accepted. I have to send out a couple of more apps today and tomorrow because I'm starting to freak out way too much for no reason at all.
My husband and I are both facing layoffs (in education), and if I have to go back and sell one more used car....
......... I might have to ditch my husband for some rich lawyer who has already paid off his student loan debt.

Here's a story folks may find inspirational in thinking about a career path.
It's on passion. And if you're familiar with the movie, The Pursuit of Happyness, then you'll know who the homeless man is referred to in the piece.
I think there's more to success than just passion (such as a reasonable amount of starting "talent" or ability and a host of other factors), but the power of passion can be truly life-changing when aligned with these other building blocks of success.
It's an inspiring read.

I saw this thread, and I was going to post something along the lines of "keep working at my slightly above minimum wage job w no prospects until they fire me for being distracted by the internet too much" but then i realized i'd probably just retake the lsat and reapply....

believe it or not, unemployment is a god send while in school. Its money you don't have to work for. It sounds insane, but it's true.pruufreadr wrote:I need to get one. anyone who disses the idea of unemployment in law school has either never been in law school or never had a real job.North wrote:Not a bad idea, actually.kuttlefish wrote:Second UG degree -> patent bar -> Patent prosecutor

there are things you can't do with that unless you have a JD though.kuttlefish wrote:Second UG degree -> patent bar -> Patent prosecutor
but there are things that you could do that most JD holders can't do too.
Most people go for both since clients tend to prefer that.
