Re: About law school medians
No, just a first time poster -- I registered shortly before the Oct. LSAT, and this is the first time I've felt compelled to post. A mod can IP check me if desired.

Re: About law school medians
It isn't necessarily that URMs are always accepted below median, it's that above median URMs tend to get into better schools and have great scholarship offers which are more attractive. Once you get into the HYS world, that is where you will see more above median URMs because there is nowhere with better prospects.ixwad wrote:For the record, some people in this thread seemed to assume that the OP assumes URM will score lower than other candidates. In reality, I think the (accurate) assumption is simply that, while all groups have candidates applying with high and low scores, URMs with low scores will be accepted at a greater rate than non-URMs with low scores.

If a school had 25% AA or native american, the yes it would have an effect. Because no non-HBCU does, it really doesn't affect the numbers.
Also, the numbers are lower due to splitters. Usually, high LSAT low GPA individuals.
HTH.
Oh and OP, you fail.

I have never seen a thread like this filled with so much fail on both sides. What has happened to TLS?

I don't have median numbers handy, but this study (page 9) shows distribution of differences in mean scores comparing black and white students. You'll notice that it's fairly common to have a difference in mean LSAT scores of 5 to 11 points and GPAs of 0.10 to 0.50.

If TLSer's could do math well they'd be at Med school, and if they could understand math at a 6th grad level they'd be in Business school.Unitas wrote:I have never seen a thread like this filled with so much fail on both sides. What has happened to TLS?
