It's an Aeron or a knock-off. And so what? Spending money on the chair is much more credited than on the desk. $680 on Amazon for the real article, btw.

Get coasters. And maybe a padded blotter. Glass tops can crack from setting the wrong kind of thing down on 'em too firmly/quickly (like a double old fashioned glass, coffee mug or pile of casebooks.) Coasters also help control the windex budget, and the blotter to keep you from scratching the top as you shuffle the stuff right in front of you around.

Got it at Ikea for 57$, it's nice and big. That's a 26'' monitor on it, just for reference.

That's what I did - 2 column expedit w/attached desk. I also got another expedit 2 column bookshelf and turned it on its side next to the vertical shelves the desk portion is attached to. More storage than I know what to do with.General Tso wrote:you can get the 2 column expedit and attach the deskGreat Satchmo wrote:I have those, but for the space-challenged (i.e. moving into a studio), that's a lot of space when storage needs probably aren't that high. 2 cubes wide, maybe 3, would be more than enough.General Tso wrote:i like the ikea expedit shelves + desk

I'm reviving a dead thread here, but I still can't find a desk I like. I'm starting to think about a 6' banquet table and a bookshelf. Looks be damned!
Unless anyone has a better idea? I'll ideally want to have my laptop, desktop, and a book accessible at the same time. Thoughts?

Two things you should never skimp on, beds and chairs. The reality of our society today is that most of your life is spent in either your bed or chair.GettingReady2010 wrote: LOL is that one of those $1000 chairs?
