Although government/public service and oral sex rarely intersect

I highly doubt it from what I've seen. DOJ seems to be particularly interested in your commitment to govt/public service as demonstrated by your past employment/intern experiences, and maybe your personal statement.

I imagine they would also be more interested in moot court than most employers. Moot court might not happen before DOJ honors hiring, though.

Of course, L. Rev. will help you with the DOJ just like anywhere else. But it's not a prereq.
I currently intern for the DOJ so hopefully this will be a boost. And I am interested in Moot court, but really want to avoid a journal if possible.

ITT - we learn that YCRevolution has an aversion to blowjob jokes.

Also, pertaining to the original question, is it possible law review would ever be detrimental? I mean, is there ever a reason you shouldn't do it?

I didn't try and write on for law review. I want to do public interest in regards to refugee rights and immigration, and it seems none of those employers care about it. They care more about involvement in clinics and pro bono work, and if I did law review I wouldn't have the time to do a lot of the stuff I do now.

There are certainly jobs for which it's not as important, but it's also hard to know exactly what you want to do and give up the opportunity if you have it, which might end of shutting doors down the road.

I get frustrated with law school sometimes because it seems like lots of people do things not because it interests them or they want to do it, but they feel they have to. Some of it is a necessary evil, but just because your classmates really want something or find it important doesn't mean that it is for your specific goals. On average, law review is probably fairly helpful, but not everybody needs to care about it.
