Agreed...Management and Marketing are generally looked down upon in my business school. Whoever cant make the grades in finance and accounting switch to one or the other. Stimulate your brain. Challenge yourself.

If it lowers the GPA, I'm not sure it's worth it. Law firms just care about your law school, grades, and personality. Whether you chose finance or management isn't going to come into play.

You are probably right, but just for argument's sake I think that is kind of silly. Some people are just better suited for management; its definitely more practical for me. I mean it seems just as easy to assume a finance major is pretentious or a accounting major has no people skills? After all, they let me sell mortgages with a GED.

OP, choose the major in which you'll be able to earn the highest GPA.

I'm sure if I study enough, achieving a high GPA in finance will be no problem. If I don't get into my desired law schools then I most likely won't attend law school. In that case I would want my degree to serve for a good career somewhere else.

I don't think anyone answered this yet, but should I choose the general degree in finance or specialize and choose corporate finance or investment management? Or any of the other tracks I listed in my original post.

I would do accounting, just because you can get your CPA. Its looked really highly upon in the business world. Manny CFO's have their CPA.

Yes. After reading the job prospects here, I traded-in my LSAT books for GMAT books. MSAccy costs less and seems to be more promising. I want to be rich, not suicidal.

My 2 cents:

If you want knowledge of the field, Accounting or Finance (in that order)

If you want to get into a good school, Marketing or Business management. Don't expect to learn a lot of the biz world tho

Yep. Generally the kids who fail out of intermediate accounting switch to management and marketing. That class is the litmus test for accountants. Can't comment on finance, but I'd imagine some of the upper level classes have the same effect.
