Curling...yes the olympic sport with stones, ice, and brooms. Needed one more credit to qualify for residency at the end of the semester and it was the only one credit class that fit into my schedule. Actually turned out to be pretty fun though

That one made me laugh but are these and kayaking, etc. just 1 one unit classes people are taking for fun? Because that makes a bit of difference. My "Challenges of Leisure" was a 3 unit class within a major for what it's worth

nope, 3 credit English course. :) That's what I get for majoring in hippy dippy English at an already hippy school.

Compensation. It was a MWF class and we got him to cancel every single friday class just because we told him we didn't feel like going. We also got him to give us extra credit for coming to class and he gave out more extra credit than actual points in the class. I got a 130/100 for my first test and 115/100 for my second. Final was optional if you wanted a grade boost. We were pretty sure he made up all of his grades. He took 20 minutes to get class in order by asking how everyone when it was a 50 minute class then would let us go early. It sucked I had to pay money but sure enjoyed it :)

Hmm toss up between History of Baseball and Science and Technology in Society.

History of Baseball was just bullshit because the professor (cranky old man) informed me, the only female in the class, that I could never make an A in the class because as a woman, I would never be able to understand the subtleties of the sport at an A level. Can you say doucher? I mysteriously got a B in the class even though I know I did A-level work. The frustrations of subjectivity in grading...

We also have a Science and Technology in Society requirement. I originally was taking this Technology of Bodies class in the Philosophy department which was cool, because it was about circus freaks and neat things. But, then had to write a ten page paper on social construction, which I couldn't explain well enough to write ten pages on. SO, I wimped out and took Science and Technology in Society, the most worthless class on the planet. I sat there with a hundred freshmen three times a week and basically learned "sometimes something is invented for one use, and it ends up being used for something else", "sometimes technology has unexpected consequences", and that "science is not the same as technology." Worst class ever. The exams were so general and easy that I could write about pretty much anything I wanted, so I just used info from whatever history class I was taking at the time to answer all the questions. Complete waste of time.

I forgot about another course I took as an upper-division elective: Children's Literature. We read Dr. Seuss and Curious George books, and took multiple choice tests about what happened in the stories. To make it even easier, the TA would review what "might" be on the test in her office hours the day before the test.

Beverage Survey. We discussed the history and production techniques for alcoholic beverages.... and then we drank them.

Three fun credit hours, but pretty useless.

Three fun credit hours, but pretty use[strike]less[/strike]ful way to get hammered on the school's dime.

Maybe Wisconsin? They have an extensive forestry program.

I took a 4 credit 400 level Ethology: Animal Behavior course. Sounds pretty tough right? It was a MWF class, the professor didn't take attendance and the only thing we were graded on was a 10 page research paper on whatever we liked that had nothing to do with what he taught in class. I stopped coming after the third week. Wrote my paper a month later and enjoyed my A at the end of the semester.

I took "Leisure Experience." We wrote poems in class about cooking and everyone gets an A.

Introduction to Old Testament. We were suppose to meet MWF for 1 1/2 hours, we only met on Wed for 30 minutes. Just enough time for him to go over the 10 question multiple choice take home quiz, and for him to pass out the take home quiz for next week :)

Counseling Psych -- it was part of some research project. The requirement: come to a group discussion once a week, talk about anything that was on your mind, and allow yourself to be filmed.

"Music, Mallets and More:" an honors seminar class where one exam was an original score performed on a recorder.

During a summer study abroad, I took Politics of Mexico at the University of San Diego. Being Mexican and a law student in Mexico it was impossible for me no to get an A+. It felt like cheating in a way.

I am a former professional shakespearian actor, and in high school I wond 2 or 3 speech competitions at the state level.... I had to take COM:101, a basic speech giving class.

Also, senior year, after having taken senior level seminar classes on Augustine, Aquinas, Moore, and Eastern Philosophy...I had to take religions of the world.

Intro to Rock Music... It involved memorizing different characteristics of Beatles' albums and the difference between British and American punk rock. It was awesome!

Not really undergraduate courses, but I think Quantum Field Theory and Measure Theory have to be tied for being the largest "waste of time" courses I have taken. Absolutely useless for any career field outside of academics.
